When the Humen’s were referred to me by their friends, they were thrilled to find out that I could do the cabinetry, countertops and the tile, as well as pull together the style and paint colors they were dreaming of. We took the old fashioned 8 x 10 bathroom and transformed it into an amazing oasis for two.

During the design phase, the Humen’s expressed a desire to have traditional styled cabinetry with furniture details, a shower designed for two and plenty of storage for towels, linens and bath neccesities. The corner vanity incorporated his and her sink cabinets with furniture toe valances, fluted pilaster columns and fluted base turnings would balance the large shower. The idea of the standard medicine cabinet, which is always the old stand by, was not used instead we opted for beautiful mullion glass corner cabinet which was a not only a focal point but fabulous storage for large items. The window seat design was the perfect place for the towels to be stored and a great utilization for a quick seat to change clothes.

We chose a brushed antiqued carrera marble with multiple sizes to make a unique pattern. The client wanted to incorporate a border of some type, so we choose a traditional handmade and hand painted tile that would have a medallion motif and liners to match the cabinetry moulding. The diagonal pattern of the border picked up the diagonal pattern of the marble floor. I designed a corner shower that would be big enough for the two of them, with a small seat and a built in soap niche. The soap niche was tucked away behind the wall between the toilet and the shower. The custom glass shower was designed with a corner of wall sliced out for interest.
The beautiful combination of elements and design of the space have brought the Humen’s much peace and tranquility and is the master bathroom they always dreamed of.
